James Steele Haney is an award-winning writer, director, and actor whose work explores identity, isolation, obsession, and the pursuit of belonging through elevated genre storytelling.

 

Kentucky-born and Las Vegas-based, he creates psychological horror, Southern Gothic thrillers, and character-driven suspense. His feature screenplays ReddeR, Greenville Society, and Superstar Blvd. have been recognized by film festivals and screenplay competitions, including the Austin Film Festival.

 

In 2026, he wrote, directed, and starred in the horror short Tales of the Macabre. Influenced by classic horror, analog aesthetics, and small-town American folklore, his work blends atmospheric tension with deeply human characters.

 

He is currently developing his feature slate through Shh Studios.
